Minister for Education James Merlino announced that schools in the Greater Geelong area will get an additional $6 million in maintenance funding, ensuring that existing buildings are safe, modern and properly maintained.
It’s all part of the single largest boost to school maintenance ever undertaken — a $515 million unprecedented investment by the Andrews Labor Government.
Some highlights of the funding include $795,000 for Northern Bay P-12 College, $312,000 for Newcomb Secondary College and $261,000 for Bellarine Secondary College.
This investment will more than double funding for maintenance at Victoria’s state schools over the next two financial year.
It will enable schools to do essential works such as painting, replacing carpet and windows, landscaping, tree inspections and maintenance of infrastructure like septic systems and water services.
This funding will help Geelong schools to undertake essential maintenance – from a new lick of paint, to replacing carpets and landscaping work – so that students, teachers and parents alike can take pride in our schools.
