Christine Couzens recently joined members of Geelong’s Sikh to launch the 550th birthday anniversary celebration of Sikh founder Guru Nanak Dev Ji.
The event, on Saturday30 November, will commence with the Nagar Kiran-Geelong Humanity Walk parade from 9:30am at Cunningham Pier, arriving at Eastern Beach Reserve at 10:30am.
After the parade, the celebration will continue with free food, literature and activities at Eastern Beach until 1pm.
The Andrews Labor Government is helping Victoria’s Sikh communities celebrate the 550th birthday anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev Ji across the state.
Geelong is one of 20 events to be supported by the Andrews Labor Government.
18 organising groups will share in $200,000 to hold events through October and November.
Victoria is home to Australia’s largest Sikh community, with more than 52,000 Sikh Victorians recorded in the 2016 census.
