Register To Vote For The First Peoples’ Assembly of Victoria

Aboriginal people in Victoria never ceded soverignty and have been long seeking a treaty with the government.

Australia is one of the only Commonwealth countries that does not have a treaty with its Indigenous peoples.

Treaties recognise the wrongs that were done in the past – stating the facts and attempting to right the wrongs.

Treaties also promote fundamental human rights. This will be an opportunity to recast the relationship between Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal Victorians.

Of course, the first people of Victoria must have their voices heard in the process of treaty. That’s why the Victorian Government is seeking to establish a First Peoples’ Assembly.

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Victorians now have the chance to vote for who they wish to represent them.

Thousands of people have already enrolled to be a part of this historic process. You can join them by clicking here.
